Tools We Created in Our Investigation of China & the Global Seafood Industry
I wanted to draw your attention to three tools we made as part of this investigation.
The first is the Bait-to-plate tool where we traced seafood from ships and processing plants to downstream brands and consumers connected to the crimes that we have unveiled. The purpose here was to empower the public to see how western consumers are often directly tied to these otherwise far-away concerns.
The second is the Discussion tool where we took every exchange that we had with every stakeholder (over 300 companies, NGOs, and government agencies), presenting our findings and seeking their replies, and we published these exchanges so that reporters and advocates and industry could see exactly who said what.
